As someone who likes taking my Nintendo Switch 2 with me everywhere, having a sturdy case is an obvious must, but what if that case did more than just keep everything safe? Belkin, with all their wisdom in peripherals, recently dropped the Charging Case Pro – a modern, functional case that aims to be more than just a way to keep the Switch 2 safe. This is the second iteration of the Charging Case from Belkin, only now it’s more than just a case with a power bank, as I soon found out.
I’ll be the first to say one of the Switch 2’s biggest drawbacks is its battery life, especially when playing some of the more graphically demanding games on the system. More than a few times I’ve gone to play on the train and realised I’ve got less than 50%. So how does the Belkin Charging Case Pro alleviate this? Put simply, the case features an inbuilt battery docking system that connects snugly to the system, so while it’s safely stored away, it can charge up so it’s ready for your next session.

I’ve spent the last month with the Charging Case Pro, and I was surprised not just by its convenience but also by how adaptable it is, especially when travelling or playing in different places. Not only is it a very stylish Switch 2 case, but it’s also created a solution for more comfortable play on the go by ensuring you have the charge and even the means to set up.
Available in charcoal, sand, and sage, the Belkin Charging Case Pro is all packed neatly in a durable outer shell. Inside, it features a moulded soft interior that houses the charging dock unit and keeps your console nice and snug while on the go. It’s an impressive case that walks the line between gaming utility and style, all packed in nicely with a hidden zipper.

Inside the case, it also features game card storage and an envelope-style pocket where you can slip cables, your headphones or other smaller things you might need. The pocket also hides a clever little sleeve that you can use for an AirTag or similar piece of tech. No doubt a comfort if you’re worried you’ll lose it out and about.
Size-wise, compared to the Powerwave Premium Carry Case Switch 2 case, the Belkin Charging Case Pro is only slightly bigger, featuring a more with a flat front and back. The latter is also heavier, but with the internal dock battery, that’s to be expected.
So what about the dock battery makes this case so good? Put simply, the Belkin Charging Case Pro is less of a case you just throw your Nintendo Switch 2 in just to keep it safe, it’s also to keep your console ready to play. Inside, the dock not only secures everything in place, but it also doubles as a stand that allows you to sit the Switch up comfortably so you can play and charge on the go. You can even take the dock battery out of the case, allowing you to sit it somewhere.

It’s also a very streamlined process for inserting and taking your Switch out thanks to a hinged USB-C connector that allows you to remove it quickly with little worry of anything breaking. It’s also further supported by a short lip that easily directs the console onto the charger with little fuss, even if you’re rushing to get off the train.
The included 10,000mAh power bank allows you to charge your Switch while it’s safely stored away, or even while playing while it’s docked in the case. Playing while it’s docked in the case is fairly comfortable, but it really shines by allowing you to slip the console in and out with ease. Coming back to it fully charged and ready was so convenient, and much more reliable than remembering to charge every night.
Keeping the battery charged in the Charging Case Pro is also really easy as well. All it requires is to be plugged in via the external USB-C port, where you can see the battery status, including a percentage. Something I also noted was that there wasn’t much heat in the battery part of the case during that charging, which I appreciated given my Switch was at times inside.

My only downside is that the case isn’t compatible with the Belkin Gaming Grip, specifically the ergonomic Joy-Con shells. This is due to the moulded soft interior being shaped to the console itself. While it’s not a deal breaker, it does limit your options, especially if you’re someone who wants that handheld comfort. While it is a case that adds to the portable experience, if they do further iterate on the case, I’d love to see some included ergonomic shells that nest in the case perfectly.
Price-wise however, the Charging Case Pro still feels like you’re getting that value with it retailing for $149 AUD. Considering that includes a high-quality case and a power bank that functions as a stand inside and outside of the dock, you really can’t go wrong.

As a piece of kit for the Nintendo Switch 2, it’s still likely one of the best cases available right now, proving Belkin are indeed a formidable player in the peripherals space. Not only does the Charging Case Pro support using the console on the go, but it also offers improvements to the experience overall. If you’re looking for a case that does more than just keep it all safe, then this is definitely the perfect contender.
