Spiritforged is the next Riftbound set and upcoming second expansion for the League Of Legends TCG that made its debut in late October. And while Spiritforged doesn’t officially launch in English till February 2026, we have an exclusive card preview from the set.
This is your first look at one of the new upcoming cards in Spiritforged: Void Drone, a 3-cost fury unit that becomes even cheaper to cast when it’s not in your hand!

Eagle-eyed League of Legends fans will certainly note the mention of Rek’Sai in the flavour text, a Champion from The Void that burrows around, ambushing enemies. Void Drone definitely seems to draw from that playstyle with its ability allowing you to play it for 1 rune if it’s anywhere that’s not your hand. I could definitely see this coming in handy when it’s in your trash, especially when you want to secure your hold of a battlefield. I am really looking forward to how much of a nuisance I can be with Void Drone.
There aren’t too many cards from The Void available in Riftbound yet either. In Origins we got a legend card and a Champion Unit Kai’Sa, while Malzahar and Kog’Maw appeared as Champion Units only. In the earlier Spiritforged previews, two Rek’Sai Champion Units have been revealed alongside a legend, so maybe that’s a sign to build a Void-themed deck.

Spiritforged Details
Spiritforged still might be a ways away, but Riot Games is definitely keeping players eager for more. Despite being revealed as a smaller set than Origins, the follow-up will include 221 cards including 12 new Champion Legends and even some new mechanics to keep things interesting.
Like any good TCG expansion, new mechanics keep it all moving forward. Riftbound: Spiritforged will introduce the following mechanics;
- Equipment – Can be equipped to units to make them stronger while also remaining after the unit dies. Equipment can be placed under unit cards so you can easily read the ability text and see the power bonus as well.
- Quick-Draw – Allows you to play an equipment as a reaction and attach it to a unit.
- Weaponmaster – When you play a unit you can attach equipment for a reduced cost.
- Gold – A spendable token currency you can pay in place of recycling a rune when your short on resources.
- Repeat – Players are able to cast spells with this ability again if they can afford the spell’s cost.
Given that a big part of what draws me into TCG is the card art, I’m really looking forward to more of the alternate art reveals for the set. The new Spirit Blossom-themed cards sound incredible, so I’m really hoping these live up to the prestige of the skins in-game.
Riftbound Game Director Dave Guskin said “With the launch of Origins, we learned a tremendous amount about how players experience Riftbound. From Nexus Nights to theorycrafting, it has been incredible to see how the community makes Riftbound their own. Spiritforged builds on that foundation with new Champion Legends, new mechanics, and even greater collectability. Spiritforged combines the essence of the Spirit Blossom universe with the new tools needed to get the job done, and we cannot wait to see what players create next.”
Riftbound Roadmap
Past Spiritforged, three other sets launching in 2026 were also unveiled. While we don’t know too much yet, a four-set rotation feels like a decent pace for Riftbound. Arcane fans will also be eager to note that Vi appears in the key art for Unleashed, while Mel and Ambessa appear in the Vendetta set key art!

Riftbound: Spiritforged is set to release on 13 February 2026 in English.
