Nintendo Has Announced The Nintendo Switch 2 And Here’s What We Know

After weeks and weeks of speculation and leaks, Nintendo has finally revealed their next console, and it’s called the Nintendo Switch 2.

WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT THE NINTENDO SWITCH 2

While no specific hardware details are known at this time, the trailer showcases the Nintendo Switch 2’s sleek design, including a larger screen, additional USB-C port, new dock, larger kickstand, and newly designed magnetic joy-cons, which retain the blue and red colour palette of the original Nintendo Switch.

The main piece of information we received about the new console and its functions is that it will be compatible with both physical and digital Nintendo Switch games, though certain games may not be fully compatible. Nintendo Switch Online members will also be able to continue using their service.

WHEN WILL WE LEARN MORE?

An in-depth look at the new console will be revealed on April 2, 2025, during a Nintendo Direct dedicated to the long-awaited console. Details of the broadcast will be announced closer to the date.

The Nintendo Switch 2 will be released in 2025.

GET HANDS-ON IN MELBOURNE

Nintendo has announced a hands-on experience in Melbourne that will take place on May 10 and 11, 2025 at the Centrepiece at Melbourne Park. Similarly to Nintendo Live Sydney 2024, tickets will be available via a randomly selected draw.

Registrations are open from January 18 at 11:00am AEDT until January 26 11:59pm AEDT.
