Whether it be Ratchet and Clank’s Rifts, Dishonored 2’s venture into Aramis Stilton’s Manor or everyone’s favourite Titanfall 2 mission, people love time/dimension shifting mechanics, myself included. Tenet of the Spark features this as a core mechanic and looks to be a game that should already be on your Wishlist.
ROAR Games, a new development studio from the people behind the US-based CGI studio ZHEESHEE is currently making Tenet of the Spark. Based on ZHEESHEE’s own short “The Spark”, This ambitious cinematic corridor-fighter tells the story of a young boxer who must learnt the truth about himself through embodying his ancestors.
Channeling more technical fighting games like SIFU, there’s a heavy focus on meaty hand-to-hand combat. Will can shift through overlapping realities on command to get the edge in a fight, with his Viking ancestor able to slam down onto enemies with his massive hammer or his Aztec counterpart to attack from height or at a distance.

The art direction is brilliant, with Will’s modern era filled with punchy graffiti and trash lining the alleyways Will fights through, only to seamlessly transition into a mountainous tundra or ancient Aztecan ruins. If you’d like to see the game for yourself, you can check out Tenet of the Spark’s steam page here or check out the website here for links to the rest of their socials.
