Logitech G Yeti Orb Review — A Newbie’s Best Friend

Logitech G Yeti Orb

I have had the pleasure of using the new Logitech G Yeti Orb USB Condenser Microphone now for the past few months and let me tell you, I have been so impressed by everything this mic does!

As someone who is still quite the audio noob, the Yeti Orb has been a brilliant addition to my setup. It is super beginner friendly – simply download the Logitech G Hub software, plug in via USB and away you go. Side note: I’ve been using it with my Macbook Air 2021 with a USB C adapter.

The Logitech G Hub software is free and comes with a bunch of Blue VO!CE pre-sets and the ability to customise the settings to suit your needs. There’s even a bunch of fun voice effects available as well. The mic is also compatible with Logitech G’s LIGHTSYNC. The logo on the back of the microphone can be customised with RGB lighting effects and doubles as a status light during broadcast sessions.

The Yeti Orb has been designed with new content creators and streamers in mind. Underneath the sleek and stylish exterior, it has been built with a condenser capsule with a cardioid pickup pattern which is optimised for game streaming. Put simply, this mic has the highest sensitivity to sound coming directly from the front, next to none from the back and very little from either side, which is exactly what you want while broadcasting.

The only downside I found with this one is the vibration feedback I noticed coming through while typing with it standing on my desk. It is possibly not entirely the mic’s fault but more the fact my desk is quite a flimsy handmade one I crafted myself. For context here, the keyboard I use is the Logitech G G715 (Tactile) which by nature is a louder sounding keyboard. The feedback was reduced once placing the mic on either my desk mat or a coaster. However, during a Discord call with friends, while playing Stardew Valley, this wasn’t a huge issue for me with minimal keyboard use.

Overall, I wholeheartedly agree with Logitech G’s statement of this being the perfect microphone for beginner streamers and creators. It’s also fantastic for the home office for those business Teams calls. For the price point ($99.95 AUD RRP), you really can’t go wrong with this one. It’s stylish and is another high-quality product in the Logitech G line.
