Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc and FromSoftware have announced the release date for the expansion of their action RPG and multiple award-winning game, including the 2022 Game of the Year winner, Elden Ring. Originally announced back in February 2023, it’s been a long wait for the millions of Tarnished who have eagerly been awaiting the arrival of the expansion.
The expansion is titled Shadow of the Erdtree, which is set for release globally on July 21, 2024, two years after the release of the main game. It’s the first and likely only expansion for the game, and judging by the trailer, it’s not going to disappoint.
In Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, players will step into the Land of Shadow, ready to explore a new adventure full of mysteries and danger. Get ready to confront threatening bosses with new weapons and armour at your disposal. Follow in the path of Miquella and discover the dark side of the Elden Ring story. For those that are new to Elden Ring, cursed to be young forever, Miquella was a background character within events of the main game and may have been missed by some players, but he now takes center stage in the expansion.
Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is being offered in multiple versions for existing players who already own the main game and for newcomers who will require the main game to play the expansion.

Collector’s Edition (Limited Quantity)
- ELDEN RING Shadow of the Erdtree Collector’s Edition – includes a single voucher code of the selected platform for the ELDEN RING Shadow of the Erdtree expansion and comes with a (46cm) statue of “Messmer the Impaler,” 40-page physical art book, and digital soundtrack. ELDEN RING Shadow of the Erdtree will be released on July 21, 2024 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The base game of ELDEN RING is required to access Shadow of the Erdtree content.
