Square Enix has announced today that their 4v4 party shooter game FOAMSTARS will become free-to-play from October 4, 2024.
The game, which was released earlier this year, previously required players to purchase the game and have an active PlayStation Plus subscription. Now, the game will be free-to-play, with no PlayStation Plus subscription required.
Players who previously purchased the game or downloaded the game using PS Plus will receive exclusive Legacy Gifts.
Items included in the Legacy Gifts DLC:
- Exclusive colour variant Bubble Beastie Skins × 12 in total
- Exclusive slideboard design × 1
- “Legacy” title × 1
FOAMSTARS CONTENT ROADMAP
On top of these changes, Square has revealed what content will be dropping for the game in the coming months, which includes new maps, boss battles, and a new Foamstar:

“These changes will make it much easier for new players to get in on the fun, so we hope you’ll take this as an opportunity to invite your friends along and have even more fun with FOAMSTARS.”
FOAMSTARS is now available to play on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
