Melbourne International Games Week’s industry favourite presentation night, Freeplay Parallels returns October 9 at the Melbourne Town Hall. The night celebrates the joy of play and creating playable art with passionate developers sharing their process and passion with the wider community.
The annual celebration returns during Melbourne International Games Week for 2025 with 13 games being spotlighted. Like in previous years, the evening will include presentations from the game developers behind a selection of upcoming games and it will also include playable demos and other installations.
Not only will attendees see the Melbourne Town Hall transformed once again, but there will also be a selection of Freeplay and other indie game merch on offer!
Presenters for Parallels 2025:
Key Fairy – Owl Machine (Tex, Mara, QLD) – Key Fairy is a hand-drawn, folkloric, pacifist bullet-hell! Step into the forest, dance around desperate beasts, evade forgotten gods, and share whispers with woodland folk.
Noibs – Oddlark (Josh Bradbury, VIC) – In Noibs, create silly little guys out of jumbles of body parts to win the approval of every Judge in the Universe!
Delphinium – CINNADEV (Heidi Borge, SA) – Delphinium is a bittersweet cozy, story-driven farming simulator in which cultivating connections with those around you matters just as much as growing your crops- sometimes even more so.
Pro Jank Footy – Powerbomb Games (David Ashby, Tyler Roach, SA) – Pro Jank Footy is an over-the-top arcade Australian Rules Football game where absurd, roguelite power-ups shake up the match every time your opponent scores.
Shape Sender Deluxe – Dead Teapot (Tana Tanoi, NZ) – Solve physics puzzles with magnets, springs, fans, and more while your new best friend Sendy helps you along the way! But maybe keep an eye on him, he’s been acting a little strange lately…
REAPRIEVE – 10pm Club (Althea Francisco, Luke Kemp, VIC) – At REAPRIEVE, the sole purpose of a grim reaper is their desk job. Every soul has a story – and you’re tasked with deleting it.
Wyrmspace Tactics – Wali Studios (Joel Davison, Sasha Mutch, VIC) – Wyrmspace Tactics is a tile-tactics card game about a crew of traumatised space pirates committing faster than light heists.

Playable Games Showcase Line-Up:
Rollick ‘n’ Roll – Crayonix Games
Isopod: A Webbed Spin-Off – Sbug Games
Blackcurrant: Pianto – Bora Erdogan, Will Parkin

Having attended Freeplay Parallels, the event never ceases to inspire and I can’t recommend it enough whether you’re a developer or a player curious about how it all comes together.
The night is proudly supported by Screen Austraila, City of Melbourne and Creative Victoria who subsidize no questions asked concession ticket prices.
Freeplay Parallels 25 is on October 9 at the Melbourne Town Hall. Limited tickets are still available in limited quantities here.
