After almost a year since it was first announced, League Of Legends very own collectable trading card game – Riftbound finally has a release date locally. From October 31, eager players and collectors will be able purchase the LOL Riftbound Orgins set in Australia and New Zealand.
Having undergone some serious aesthetic changes from it’s first reveal, Riftbound: Orgins is a new take on the classic LOL roster featuring player favorite Champions in all their glory along side themed cards reminiscent of the MOBA. From October 31, 2025, English cards will be available in stores across North America, EMEA, LATAM, and Oceania.
Riftbound Orgins will include over 298 cards, with special “Overnumbered” cards appearing and “Signature Overnumbered” cards being even rarer variants. I’d liken these to Lorcana’s “Enchanted” cards from the rarity alone.
A Riftbound Orgins Booster comes with 14 play cards as follows:
- 7 Common card slots
- 3 Uncommon card slots
- 2 Rare (or better) card slots
- 1 Foil card slot
- 1 Token/Rune slot
- And an informational insert

As an expensive cardboard lover, I am personally looking forward to Riftbound, though I have my reservations about it from a collecting and enjoyment standpoint. For boosters to feel exciting, it can be a tricky balance of artwork and cool alt art cards, which here appear as Epic cards or Alternate Art cards. Obviously, everyone want’s to pull cool cards but I’m hoping the boosters feel exciting to crack.

From October 31, the following LOL Riftbound Origins products will be available to purchase from card stores and other stockists.
- Origins: Proving Grounds – A starter, boxed set designed to play with 2-4 players featuring Annie, Garen, Lux, and Master Yi decks, perfect to try out the game and learn its mechanics.
- Origins: Champions Decks – Pre-constructed decks featuring Viktor, Jinx, and Lee Sin. These are ready-to-play and ready-to-tweak right out of the box.
- Origins: Booster Packs – If you’re looking to power up your deck, these individual 14-card booster packs come with a variety of rarities. Spice up a Pre-Con deck or make your own deck from scratch.
- Origins: Booster Box – 24 packs in a booster box. More cards is more good, right?
Given that it’s a completely new TCG the Origins: Proving Grounds definitely looks like a decent starting point for those eager to learn how to play. There will also be themed Riftbound Origins accessories such as card sleeves and playmats with Champion art, including Ahri, Jinx, Miss Fortune, and Volibear.
Eager players will want to keep an eye out for local game stores running launch events as there will be promo booster packs available for attending and supporting. While I still have some hope we’ll see Riftbound Orgins making an appearance at PAX Aus in some capacity, it looks like we’ll have to wait just a little longer!
The League Of Legends TCG Riftbound: Orgins is out October 31.
