With two sets on the roster now, Riftbound sure ain’t showing any signs of slowing down! The next set, Unleashed is well on the way and we’ve already seen a few teasers. Unleashed see’s the game focusing on building up power and becoming that force to be reckoned with!
This is your first look at two of the new upcoming cards in Unleashed: Rengar Trophy Hunter in his main art and alt art! Rengar Trophy Hunter is a 5-cost Body Champion Unit with Ambush which allows the card to be played as a Reaction to a battlefield where you have units. Otherwise, the card can also be played directly to a battlefield with an enemy on it, even if you don’t have other units there.

Back in Spiritforged, we had our first tease of the League of Legends champion with Rengar Pouncing, however this version is stronger. It features the new Ambush ability, making him a formidable attacker who can surprise your opponent. While the first variant was relying on you to have control of a battlefield, this one can jump right in. Either you’re being attacked and need some backup, or you wish to surprise take a weaker battlefield, Rengar Trophy Hunter seems pretty incredible! The agile playstyle rewards players for pouncing in at a moment’s notice.

I am loving the art on both of these! Having been lucky enough to pull some incredible alt arts in other sets – you’ll know instantly if you have one based off their unique foil designs. Alt art cards are functionally the same card, however they don’t feature reminder text.
If you aren’t familiar with League of Legends, Rengar is a pretty formidable jungler who works best hiding in the bushes till an unsuspecting player happens along. You can definitely see that playstyle coming forward in his card design for Riftbound as well. This is a card that you want lying in wait, ready to pounce.
Unleashed Details:
Riftbound Unleashed might not be out until May 8, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t already a lot of reveals around the set to get excited about. Similar to Spiritforged, Unleashed will feature 220 cards and 30 alternate art cards. You can definitely also expect some new Champion Legends with some fresh mechanics and new match-ups as well!
With its third expansion, we also have a range of new mechanics coming up to get excited for. Riftbound Unleashed will introduce the following mechanics;
- Ambush – Cards with Ambush can be played as a reaction to a battlefield where you have units, allowing you to surprise your opponent with reinforcements mid-showdown.
- XP – This is a resource you build up and spend for unique advantages. XP also translates into Levels, and cards with Level benefit from how much XP you’ve earned.
- Hunt – Cards with the Hunt keyword will earn XP for you when they’re used to conquer or hold a battlefield.
Other things to note about the Riftbound Unleashed will be the new additions to line-up of TCG products, including The Vault. The pack includes a reusable card storage box, 6 boosters, 36 runes, 3 double-sided full art tokens and 2 pop-out dividers to keep it all organised. To me this feels on par with the Magic: The Gathering bundles, though on a slightly smaller scale.
