Activision and Toys For Bob have announced the first mainline Spyro game in 18 years at the Xbox Showcase this morning. The game is titled Spyro: A Realm Beyond and will be launching on PS5, Xbox Series, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2 in Autumn next year.
Here’s the 1-minute cinematic trailer:
In a blog post by developer Toys For Bob, dragon flight appears to be one of the main adjustments to the formula we all know and love from the series.
“So we spent a lot of time exploring new mechanics that would extend and transform the core “Spyro flow state” – that zen-like feeling of seamlessly charging, jumping and gliding through whimsical, dream-like worlds chasing the next shiny gem.
That line of discovery led us to one important conclusion: Spyro deserves to truly SOAR.”
“Not just a glide. Not just a limited set of flight levels. But true dragon flight. This became the guiding light of our aspirations: bring the full power, speed, and control of dragon flight to the Spyro experience.”

Toys For Bob’s Spyro catalogue first began with Skylanders in the 2010s, and most recently, the remake of the original trilogy originally developed by Insomniac Games, Spyro Reignited Trilogy.
Spyro: A Realm Beyond launches early 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
