Kay Vess and Nix are back! While it’s not a sequel to their original adventure, Ubisoft has officially released a port of the game on the Nintendo Switch 2. Marking just over a year since its original launch, the port includes an optimised handheld mode, immersive motion controls for key features, and intuitive touch controls for the Switch 2.
Releasing just days before Hollow Knight Silksong, the port is now available digitally or physically via game key card. The rise of game key cards for Nintendo Switch 2 has been frustrating for players, and rightly so, with worries about the long-term availability of games.
Via a post on Bluesky, one Ubisoft Audio Architect shared that “Snowdrop relies heavily on disk streaming for its open world environments, and we found the Switch 2 cards simply didn’t give the performance we needed at the quality target we were going for.”
I’ve been itching to return to Star Wars Outlaws, and I’ll be very interested to see how it performs on the Switch 2. The game is just over 20GB, around a third of its file size on PC.
The Star Wars Outlaws – Gold Edition on Switch 2 retails on the Nintendo eShop for $89.95 AUD, which includes the Season Pass featuring two story packs, a mission, and other cosmetics for Kay and Nix. There’s also the Ultimate Pack DLC available separately, which includes more themed cosmetics and a digital artbook for the game.
Stay tuned for our review of the Nintendo Switch 2 port when it drops soon.
