When news of a special Zelda Nintendo Direct dropped, boy did the internet come alive with speculation. From more Lego sets to film trailers, and even a Zelda-themed console among them, so what did the Nintendo gods bestow upon us?
Over the 30-minute The Legend Of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct, the biggest drop was definitely a release date for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake along with an extended dive into the gameplay. Just like the Star Fox remake, it seems like the art direction is proving divisive. We also saw the special Zelda Nintendo Switch 2 officially revealed, featuring stunning green Joy-Cons, a themed dock, and a special Pro Controller.
So without further ado – here’s everything shown in The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary last night!
The Legend of Zelda Film Title Reveal
While we didn’t get a trailer, we did find out some more about the film coming out next year such as it being a homage to the story built across the games.
The Nintendo Museum Changes & Additions

40th Anniversary Concert Tour
I’ve been a big fan of all the game concerts that have been touring lately, as it’s a great excuse to support another iconic franchise and go to a concert. Nintendo has confirmed that a global tour will be happening, starting in Japan before making its way all the way to Australia!

The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time – Extended Gameplay
Along with the new trailer we also saw an extended look at the gameplay including changes to the gameplay for modern audiences. Don’t worry though; they still left the area transition loading screens in! The art direction is already copping heat for its lean towards hyper-realistic graphics. Time will tell if it’s a hit with fans.
Zelda Notes Interactivity with The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
While I wasn’t huge on Zelda Notes when I returned to TOTK, I’m curious how it will hold up this time given it appears to have a bit more utility and reason to refer to it.

Just when you thought we’d gotten every Amiibo, Young Link and Young Zelda will be joining the collection in 2027.
The Legend Of Zelda 40th Anniversary Nintendo Switch 2 + Accessories
Obessed. Finally seeing Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Cons that aren’t black is something I’ve been hoping for since launch, and they delivered! The Zelda edition looks incredible, featuring the gold Triforce design. The new design for The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary console will be available October 29.
We also got a look at the special themed Pro Controller featuring a themed display stand and also the themed Carrying Case.

And finally, if you do get your mitts on the physical edition of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, you just might be lucky enough to score a special textured foil cover art. Now that’s some physical media!
