id Software has released a brand new trailer and revealed the release date for Doom: The Dark Ages during the Xbox Developer Direct.

This next entry into the iconic franchise is the prequel to DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal (2020) that tells an epic cinematic story of the DOOM Slayer’s rage. Players will step into the bloodied boots of the DOOM Slayer and experience the dark and sinister medieval war against hell like never before.
Xbox Wire spoke spoke with Game Director Hugo Martin and says:
“With the Slayer imprisoned at the start of our story the balance of power between good and evil is shifting and time is running out,” Martin says. “Our hero is a feared outsider among an imperilled people, his strength controlled by the gods they serve, in a world under siege by an ancient evil.”
The new trailer showcases a short but generous gameplay reel of the action you can expect from the game including decapitations, explosions, and some very ugly enemies. You can learn more about the game straight from the developers here.
DOOM: THE DARK AGES RELEASE DATE
DOOM: The Dark Ages will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on May 15, 2025.
