Every Other Magic: The Gathering Set Coming Out In 2025

Magic: The Gathering has already dropped two sets this year, and they’re definitely not slowing down anytime soon. The year began with Innistrad Remastered, a slick reprint of cards from sets featuring the fan-favourite horror Innistrad plane – Then Aertherdrift, the first official main set of the year, saw players racing through Kaladesh, Amonkhet and Muraganda. But now that begs the question: Where is Magic: The Gathering off next?

Tarkir: Dragonstorm – April 11

Dragons and Great Khans feels very like the MTG many have been missing. Tarkir: Dragonstorm sees players taking to the skies once more, returning to the legendary plane of Tarkir. In essence, this already feels like a return to the heart of Magic: The Gathering, with its focus on pure fantasy. After Aetherdrift, Tarkir: Dragonstorm is definitely going to be a whiplash from the cars and racing to dragons and powerful clans. The set will feature 5 Commander preconstructed decks, each representing a clan from the plane.

Final Fantasy – June 13

It’s the most anticipated set of the year – Final Fantasy Universes Beyond was first revealed over a year ago, and recently, we saw just how expansive it was going to be. This has to be one of Magic: The Gathering’s biggest collaborations to date, featuring a slew of characters and references for fans to soak up. The collaboration set features four preconstructed commander decks, each themed around a specific Final Fantasy game in the series. Even though I’m not the biggest fan of the games, I appreciated seeing Cloud wielding his iconic Buster Sword featured as a commander in one of the decks.

Edge of Eternities – August 1

Universes beyond, beyond? Edge of Eternities sets its sights on the stars with stellar art and galaxies galore. From the reveals so far, the set looks incredible. Seeing that blend of sci-fi and fantasy as stars explode as players explore the Sothera system – a plane unlike any other. While there have been other space and sci-fi sets, such as Unfinity, here it feels like we’re cruising deeper into the wonders of the galaxy. My main hope for this set is that it doesn’t get too lost in the vehicles like Aetherdrift unless the set really owns that space setting. Magic: The Gathering has been The set will feature two tri-colour preconstructed commander decks. Dare I say, this is my most anticipated set of the year.

Spider-Man – September 26

I don’t think even J. Jonah Jameson expected Spider-Man to be the first Marvel set collaboration. The set brings Spider-Man, Miles Morales, and Spider Gwen amongst an all-star roster of other heroes and villains from across the comics. This is quite the set, with art teasing out that graphic novel art paneling, not to mention the set art embracing that Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse animation style. With more Marvel sets being teased, this is just a taste of Marvel’s collaboration with Magic: The Gathering. While there haven’t been any Preconstructed Commander Decks announced, the set will feature five “Welcome Decks” designed for new players looking to learn the game. Each will contain the labeled deck and a random deck from the set. These function a lot like Jumpstart packs, just with less variety.

Avatar: The Last Airbender – November 21

Water. Earth. Fire. Air. Magic: The Gathering. There have been some weighty rumours about an Avatar: The Last Airbender-themed set for some time, but now it’s official. As collaborations go, it has to be one of the most thematically on-brand licensed sets we’ve seen. Still, there are not a lot of details about the collab revealed yet, given that it is the final set of the year. I would like to see this set having it’s own Preconstructed Commander decks though, with Aang, Katara, Sokka and Zuko at least! The set will also focus solely on the Avatar: The Last Airbender, so The Legend of Korra fans will have to wait and see if there’s any follow-up.

So, there you have it. Stay tuned for more of our Magic: The Gathering coverage!
