MTG Marvel Superhero Cards Have Been Announced And They’re Coming Sooner Than You Think

Avengers! The Gathering? Yup! Magic: The Gathering has been teasing their upcoming Marvel collab for a while now, but it looks like we’ll be seeing some cards from the superhero universe sooner than we thought. While Duskmourn still is the latest main set, Secret Lair is teasing an iconic Marvel drop straight from the multiverse!

There are a total of five drops due to release on November 4, each featuring a different hero. The respective drops will feature Black Panther, Captain America, Iron Man, Storm and of course, none other than the Wolverine. Each is a mechanically interesting legendary creature card that could make a great commander for those after a themed hero deck. These cards are bound to be a draw-in for Marvel and Magic fans alike.

As a teaser for what’s to come from the collaboration with Marvel, this is so exciting. The Marvel Superdrop features over 25 cards across 5 drops with each featuring a new-to-Magic card that will be legal in Commander, Legacy, and Vintage formats.

The cards come in Non-foil: $39.99 USD and Rainbow foil: $49.99 USD respectively. Aussie fans will have to set their alarms though. The Secret Lairs will be going live on the website at November 5 at 4 am AEST.

The Marvel Superdrop is just the beginning though. We will also be seeing more Marvel crossovers with MTG. This first set is based on Marvel’s Spider-Man and will be released in 2025. I’ll admit, a Spider-Man set wasn’t something I saw coming for an entire release but across the spidey cinematic universe as well as the comics there’s definitely potential here. I’d love to see some great showcase cards here that really lean into that web-slinger vibe!

For those new to Secret Lair drops, these are special themed card sets that are available in limited quantities and have been known to sell out in the past. The Marvel Superdrop joins other licensed Secret Lair drops such as Assassin’s Creed, Doctor Who, Fallout, Jurassic World, and Tomb Raider being just some of the IPs featured so far.

Personally, I’m really excited to see more of what’s coming from Marvel. This is quite the tease of what’s to come! I’m hopeful Scarlet Witch and Agatha Harkness make an appearance at some point. I’d love to brew commander decks with Marvel’s witches at the helm.

The Marvel Superdrop launches on MagicSecretLair.com on November 4, 2024.
