Naughty Dog has definitely been cooking! With The Game Awards in full swing, the studio finally has revealed that their next original game is Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. The sci-fi epic promises that signature character-driven flair but in an entirely futuristic setting.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is the newest franchise in development for the PlayStation 5 console from Naughty Dog, the studio behind acclaimed series like The Last of Us and UNCHARTED. Set thousands of years in the future, Intergalactic puts players into the role of Jordan A. Mun, a dangerous bounty hunter who ends up stranded on Sempiria – a distant planet whose communication with the outside universe went dark hundreds of years ago. Jordan will have to use all her skills and wits if she hopes to be the first person in over 600 years to leave its orbit.
Naughty Dog definitely isn’t holding back, with product placements a-plenty – even a Porche branded space ship it’s a slick new sci-fi era for sure. While it might be a futuristic leap many didn’t expect yet in the final seconds of that announcement trailer we certainly got a glimpse of just how dangerous this planet is going to be.
The game follows bounty hunter Jordan A. Mun played by Tati Gabrielle. She becomes stranded on Sempiria despite prior warnings from her agent. In the trailer we see her receiving a contract for Colin Graves who’s believed to be hiding on the planet. Tati is also no stranger to Naughty Dog having starred in the 2022 Uncharted film adaptation alongside Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg.
As an added bonus, the game’s soundtrack is being composed by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross! The pair have a stellar reputation across film and television so no doubt their cinematic flair will build this universe out with that signature style.
Billed as their “wildest, most creative story yet”, it’s clear Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet intends to mark a new era for the studio. With narrative epics like The Last Of Us and the Uncharted series under their belt, I truly don’t think we’re ready for the next original adventure from Naughty Dog.
