Nintendo has revealed more details about Zelda’s first Hyrule adventure as the main protagonist, including finer details on various locations in the game and other key info. Everything is shown off in a 5-minute The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom Gameplay trailer called “Traversing Hyrule“.
ABOUT THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: ECHOES OF WISDOM
The people of Hyrule are being stolen away by strange rifts that have appeared, and with a certain swordsman among those missing, it’s up to Princess Zelda to save her kingdom.
Team up with the mysterious fairy, Tri, and use the power of the Tri Rod to learn how to create echoes, imitations of things found in the environment. You can then recreate those echoes whenever you like to solve puzzles and defeat enemies.
ECHOES OF WISDOM LOCATIONS REVEALED
The trailer spends time introducing us to some familiar locations found in Hyrule including:
- Gerudo Desert: home of the Gerudo Tribe, this area is prone to sandstorms and has many ruins full of mysteries, and an oasis to relax in!
- Jabul Waters: home of the Sea Zora and River Zora, two tribes who don’t seem to get along, this area is like the name suggests, heavy in the water department.
- Eldin Volcano: Kakariko village resides at the base of Eldin Volcano. In order to reach the home of the Goron’s, treacherous trails must be navigated.
- Faron Wetlands: a lush labyrinth of vegetation. Home of the Deku Scrub, strange creatures with a sweet tooth.
ECHOES OF WISDOM GAMEPLAY DETAILS REVEALED
After we visited the locations featured in Echoes of Wisdom, the trailer teaches us about some mechanics that will help us save Link:
- Adventure Log: a menu that tracks side quests, which will grant Zelda some neat rewards upon completion.
- Travel Waypoints: a quick travel option to teleport around Hyrule.
- Ride a Horse!: horses can be summoned using a Carrot Echo.
- Smoothie Shops: create delicious drinks using combinations of ingredients to give Zelda various effects (similar to what was seen in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom).
- Outfits and accessories: these can be equipped to enhance Zelda’s abilities, and just to be stylish.
- NEW ABILITY – Bind: with the assistance of Tri, Zelda can use Bind to move objects as she moves, unearth buried treasure, and defeat enemies.
- Mysterious Rifts: these appear throughout Hyrule. What’s in them? We don’t know yet.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will be released exclusively on Nintendo Switch on September 26, 2024.
