“Why you slimy, double-crossing, no-good swindler!” The galaxy’s most dashing not to mention well rebel, Lando Calrissian is returning and ready for a new adventure in Ubisoft’s Star Wars Outlaws. The game’s first story DLC – Wild Card is out now, just in time for the games Steam debut.

The Wild Card DLC sees Kay and Nix hired by the Empire to infiltrate a high-stakes sabacc tournament, only there’s another game afoot. Lando also returns in the paid expansion at the delight of many. Players will venture to a casino cruiser, so expect secrets and a hearty dash of sabacc shenanigans with Nix.
Despite a bumpy launch, the game has since received numerous updates, including the removal of forced stealth sections which was a pretty divisive feature for many when the game launched. Since it was released back in August, the game has received 4 major updates, with the latest – Title Update 1.4 seeing the game benefiting from a hefty amount of improvements.
The update emphasises player choice, with forced stealth components reduced allowing the player to make their own choices and really live that scoundrel fantasy to the fullest extent. Increased player freedom, including choices between stealth or blaster combat, added weak points on enemies, tweaks to cover and even adjustments to two-handed weapons are among the changes. Player feedback was instrumental in the updates to Star Wars Outlaws as it’s allowed the team at Ubisoft Massive to really fine-tune what a Star Wars game should be. There’s also been visual tweaks and other adjustments to the facial animations to improve fidelity and capture that Star Wars cinematography. You can read the full patch notes here.
It’s great timing given that the game has also just gone live on Steam. All editions of Star Wars Outlaws along with the standalone Season Pass and Wild Card Story Pack, are live on Steam now. The launch comes after it was revealed Assassin’s Creed Shadows would be available on Steam from release day.
For players eager to jump into Star Wars Outlaw’s first story DLC, once purchased players will be prompted in-game to listen to a message at the holototable on the Trailblazer. Completing “The Gunsmith” quest is necessary to dive into the DLC storyline.
Star wars Outlaws also earned 3 nominations in The Game Awards. It’s up for Best Action/Adventure, Innovation in Accessibility, and Best Performance by Humberly González aka Kay Vess herself! It’s a shame the soundtrack didn’t get a nomination, given how well it fills out the Star Wars fantasy in the game.
Given that so much effort has gone into improving the game, I’m pretty excited to jump back in. We had a lot of fun with Kay Vess and Nix back when the game launched, so seeing the updates roll in feels really positive. If you are looking to go on your own scoundrel adventure, it definitely feels like a prime time to pick up Star Wars Outlaws.
Star Wars Outlaws is out now on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC – including Steam.
