Team Ninja has revealed the mystery game teased for the Xbox Developer Direct, and its Ninja Gaiden 4. This marks the first new Ninja Gaiden game in over 10 years.

The game is being developed by Platinum Games and Team Ninja and follows new protagonist, Yakumo and his rival, Ninja Gaiden staple, Ryu Hayabusa.
Producer, Yuji Nakao, to Xbox Wire, about introducing a new protagonist:
“Since it’s been a while since the last game, we wanted a new hero to make the series more approachable for new players. Of course, we also wanted long-time fans to enjoy the game, so Ryu Hayabusa plays a significant role in the story, serving as a major challenge and growth milestone for Yakumo. Ryu will appear throughout the game and be playable, ensuring his prowess and presence is deeply felt in NINJA GAIDEN 4.”
Each character will be playable and will have differing combat styles. New protagonist Yakumo will use ninja techniques, tools, and other familiar combat skills and can utilise two combat styles – Raven style and Nue style.
Team Ninja has also detailed that the game is set in Tokyo, which has been devastated by the Rain of Darkrot caused by the Dark Dragon.
NINJA GAIDEN 4 RELEASE DATE
Ninja Gaiden 4 will be released on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC in Spring 2025.
