As the release of The Last of Us Part II Remastered looms closer, here is a quick guide on how to access The Last of Us Part II Remastered upgrade, which costs $20 on the Australian PlayStation Store.

The option to upgrade will be available upon the game’s release on January 19, 2024.

Upgrading The Physical Copy:

You must own The Last of Us Part II (PS4) on disc in order to redeem this upgrade.

  1. Insert the The Last of Us Part II (PS4) disc into your PlayStation 5 Disc console.
  2. Navigate to The Last of Us Part II Remastered page on the PlayStation Store.
  3. Select the option to Upgrade (costs $20 AUD).
  4. Download and enjoy!

The PS4 disc must be inserted whenever you’re playing the game, not just for the initial upgrade.

Upgrading the Digital Copy

You must own The Last of Us Part II (PS4) in your Digital Library in order to redeem this upgrade.

  1. Navigate to The Last of Us Part II Remastered page on the PlayStation Store.
  2. Select the option to Upgrade (costs $20 AUD).
  3. Download and enjoy!

New Additions To The Last of Us Part II Remastered

There’s a decent amount of content offered in this remaster, which we wrote about in November. Here are some of the additional content and enhancements:

Gameplay Enhancements:

  • Guitar Free Play mode
  • Lost Levels featuring playable sequences previously cut from the game and developer commentary
  • Director’s commentary across the campaign’s cutscenes
  • DualSense wireless controller haptic feedback and adaptive trigger integration

Graphics Enhancements

  • Native 4K output in Fidelity Mode
  • 1440p upscaled to 4K in Performance Mode
  • Unlocked Framerate option for TVs supporting VRR
  • Increased texture resolution
  • Increased Level-of-Detail distances
  • Improved shadow quality, animation sampling rate, and more

The Last of Us Part II Remastered is available exclusively on PlayStation 5 from January 19, 2024.
