The Pokemon Presents was held overnight, celebrating Pokemon Day 2025 by announcing a new Pokemon game, further updates to existing games, and a new overview of Pokemon Legends Z-A.
First announced at last year’s Pokemon Presents, Pokemon Legends Z-A is set in the Kalos region, the same setting as Pokemon X and Y. The game is the second title in the Pokemon Legends series after Pokemon Legends: Arceus in 2022.
Here’s what we learned in the trailer:
- The game is a sequel and set after the events of Pokemon X and Y.
- Starter Pokemon are: Totodile, Tepig, and Chikorita.
- Your ally is called Urbain or Taunie (depending on the appearance you choose in the game).
- Your character will be staying at a hotel run by a man called AZ.
- Quarsartico Inc. is the company managing Lumiose City’s redevelopment and is run by the CEO, Jett. She has a secretary called Vinnie.
- Wild Zones have been set up throughout Lumiose City, which allow Pokemon to thrive in wild habitats around the expansive city.
- A new style of Pokemon battling. Moves can have a longer or shorter reach and different areas of effects. Pokemon can be maneuvered to avoid incoming attacks.
- Mega Evolutions have returned.
POKEMON LEGENDS Z-A RELEASE DATE
The game will be released in late 2025 on Nintendo Switch.
