Now in its third year, The Game Expo is all set to return to Melbourne on March 22 – 23, 2025. Known for its focus on the communities built around gaming, the convention saw over 10,000 attendees in 2024. From indie games, esports, cosplay comps, and even an artist alley brimming with gaming merch, TGX definitely isn’t PAX Aus, yet the event holds its own thanks to its unique flavour.
AMD will support The Game Expo in 2025, providing 60 AMD PCs for the Marvel Rivals tournaments and the returning Apex Legends Creator Showdown. Support from such a major sponsor is undeniably a game-changer. AMD wishes to support the event thanks to TGX’s own dedication to gaming fans aligning with AMD’s values.
“The AMD team in Australia are dedicated gamers who have been great supporters of the community over the years. Our PC zone has been powered by AMD since the beginning and we’re excited to be working with AMD to enhance The Game Expo as a whole,” said Daniel Chlebowczyk, brand director of The Game Expo.
AMD will also be hosting the AMD Experience Zone, allowing players to chill out in a freeplay zone with AMD PCs. The booth will also feature prize giveaways, content creator meet and greets and even a mega 100-inch screen attendees can try out.
Along with TGX’s returning Apex Legends Creator Showdown, Marvel Rivals’ first-ever Oceanic tournament will be taking place during the event. Esports has been a pillar of the event since its inception, with everything from chess to Beyblades, Tekken 8, Magic: The Gathering, Fortnite and Super Smash Bros Ultimate hosting events during the 2025 iteration. The creator showdown events see local content creators going head-to-head. Last year, the Apex Legends event was a highlight for participants and spectators so it’s awesome seeing TGX continue to support local talent with tournaments.
There are also going to be over 16 indie games boothing at TGX this year. It’s quite impressive how the convention has grown with each year. While it’s a lot more humble than PAX Aus, it makes up for it with its focus on the communities surrounding video games. Seeing a gaming convention featuring an artist alley when it launched back in 2023 was still a pretty new concept locally.
